Biogas Frey
Biogas Frey is located on the family farm Frey in Dentingen, Germany and is operated by owners Elisabeth and Georg Frey. As milk prices declined over the years, the Freys decided to convert their farm directly to the biogas plant which is operated without manure. This biogas process, known as anaerobic digestion, breaks down plant fibers to produce a methane and carbon dioxide rich biogas suitable for energy production and helps lessen dependance on fossil fuels. Because the farm is located within the village of Dentingen, it was necessary that all completed tanks passed inspection by local government. In August 2007 Frey turned to Victaulic for the retrofit of his tanks. To maximize productivity and minimize downtime, Frey insisted on the Victaulic grooved pipe joining method because the business could not afford to lose money over an extensive repair period. Victaulic style 75 couplings and grooved, galvanized carbon steel fittings were installed to provide easy future maintenance.
