Verizon Power Generator
The Victaulic Vortex™ Fire Suppression System was selected by Verizon to protect this electrical generator room because of the open-air flow requirements of the generator itself. Air flow is used to keep the generators cool, so the fire suppression system is required to be effective without maintaining room integrity. Further, since the Victaulic Vortex system utilizes a minimal presence of water, it was well-suited to this environment where flammable fuels are present. Fires from these fuels can actually spread when water is used to suppress them. Suppression systems using dry chemicals were also not applicable since they could ruin the equipment and lead to long facility down time for repairs or replacement.
