ZeaChem Cellulosic Biofinery Facility
ZeaChem will be one of the first cellulosic demonstration plants built in the United States. The plant will produce Ethanol, glacial acetic acid, and commercial grade ethyl acetate from poplar trees. ZeaChem will produce products from organic materials that will be a direct replacement for similar petroleum based products for refining, consumer products, paint and chemical industries.
Prior to construction ZeaChem began looking for the most economical means to complete the project. They looked to Victaulic to provide a stainless steel piping solution for multiple water and fluid lines that could keep costs low and allow the project to stay on budget. ZeaChem became the first facility in North America to utilize Victaulic Vic-Press® Schedule 10S, a flame-free press system that installs in seconds. The use of the Vic-Press® system reduced risk on the project while diminishing both labor and total installation costs.
