Lanai Power Plant
When the Hawaii Electric Company on Maui hired West Fire Coastal to provide a fire suppression system for their generator facility, the contractors chose the Victaulic Vortex™ Fire Suppression System. They were replacing an FM-200 system and required a system that did not need maintained room integrity to be effective. The Victaulic Vortex system can suppress fires in open, ventilated spaces making it ideal to protect electrical generator equipment. Further, since the Victaulic Vortex system affords a minimal presence of water, it is better suited for the protection of electrical equipment. The Hawaii Electric Company also selected the Victaulic Vortex system because it could operate as a stand-alone system. This generator facility is a mobile facility and the ability to move the suppression system with the equipment was a valuable feature.
