Tamar Development Project
Located at the waterfront of Hong Kong’s Central District, the Tamar Development Project is the HKSAR Government’s brand new multimillion dollar headquarters, housing the Central Government Headquarters, the Legislative Council and the Chief Executive Office. Faced with a tight schedule of only 39 weeks, the need for a large range of pipe sizes (½ – 28"), and the stringent requirements for thermal movement and seismic shift accommodation, the contractor selected Victaulic piping solutions for a fast, safe and reliable installation of the building’s chilled and hot water systems. In addition, Victaulic Construction Piping Services (CPS) and Engineering Services aided the engineering team in thermal movement accommodation which fully utilized the design benefits of flexible couplings. Robust and dependable Advanced Grooved System (AGS) couplings played an important role in off-site pre-fabrication, which greatly increased the speed of installation. Pre-fabricating the piping system off-site and delivering assembled spool pieces eliminated excess waste and increased assembly productivity, allowing the Government of Hong Kong to maintain their commitment to green building practices.
