Why We Love Miner’s Day (And You Should Too!)

Posted on December 5, 2017

If it’s not grown, it’s mined.

As Victaulic celebrates National Miner’s Day, it’s not hard to recognize why we are so passionate about the importance of a miner’s job – after all, mined materials are essential to a century’s worth of piping system products that are near and dear to our hearts.

The average person, however, may not give the significance of the mining industry much thought.  Whether you realize it or not, you touch many of the perhaps less-obvious outputs of mining each day:

Do you brush your teeth with toothpaste?  Apply sunscreen?  Adjust the thermostat?  Give dog food to your dog?  Open a door using a doorknob?  Turn on a light?  Drive a car?  Use an iPhone?  Button a pair of jeans?  Cook with pots and pans?  Play video games?

Believe it or not, each of these everyday items contains materials extracted from the earth…just to name a few.

Join us in appreciating and honoring the contributions and sacrifices of miners both past and present.  Happy National Miner’s Day!
