As part of ongoing PFAS treatment efforts, a new PFAS station is being constructed in Ramapo, New York by SUEZ. The station was initially designed as a fully flanged system, which for the contractor, Coppola, would equate to a time-consuming on-site installation. In efforts to increase their efficiency and productivity, they turned to Victaulic.

To address project needs, Victaulic proposed and delivered a complete fabrication package. As a first step, Victaulic’s Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team converted 60% of the drawings from the original flanged design to a grooved solution. Using these drawings, spools were assembled by Victaulic that included Style 31 couplings, flange adapters, AWWA fittings, and Series 761 Vic-300 MasterSeal™ butterfly valves along with grooved end ductile iron pipe.

These prefabricated spools were packaged and delivered to the jobsite clearly labeled per the drawings. This allowed the contractor to easily and correctly assemble the system without needing to use a traditional stick build approach. The result was vastly improved labor and installation efficiency.

Not only was the contractor’s labor time reduced by approximately half due to the reduced installation, but added benefits of using the Victaulic grooved system were a reduced footprint and much easier access to the system for future maintenance.
