Located in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, China, the Hunan Zhuzhou 2×1,000 MW Power Plant Expansion Project is a key energy project under the province’s 14th Five-Year Plan, with a total investment of approximately RMB 8 billion. The project adopts ultra-supercritical secondary reheat technology and is designed to generate up to 9 billion kWh annually, significantly enhancing power supply capacity across the Changsha–Zhuzhou–Xiangtan region and supporting Hunan’s energy security.
Victaulic Style 152A Expansion Joints were installed on the pulverized coal piping system, engineered for use in new and retrofit coal-fired power generation facilities, as well as bridge applications. Over 600 units Style 152A were used in this project to meet the project requirements. The 152A allows for up to 4° of deflection while accommodating expansion, contraction and rotation under thermal conditions, and was used in conjunction with Style W77 flexible couplings in this project to enable reliable system movement.
Rated up to 50 psi / 345 kPa and available in sizes from 10–40 inches, the 152A meets ASME B31.1/B31.9 standards. Compared with traditional metal expansion joints, the 152A offers a safer connection, longer service life and reduced installation space, while requiring only 16 mm of pipe-end separation for seal replacement—ensuring fast servicing and reliable operation.
