With mines on four continents, AngloGold is one of the key mining companies in the world. When retrofitting the 8″/219 mm high-pressure water lines in the Fraser Alexander Mine, they sought a project partner that could deliver a solution to allow miners to easily add and remove pipes to their existing mine dump system.

The Victaulic Style SC77HP high pressure shouldered coupling specially designed for mine dump and waste solutions proved to be an ideal choice for Anglo Gold. The Victaulic solution could easily handle the high operating pressure of the water lines and provided ease of installation, facilitating reduced system downtime on the regularly maintained water cannon systems.  Upon installation onsite crews quickly removed a 9-meter long pipe section from the middle of the pipeline by taking the housing apart, rolling the gasket over one pipe end creating the space necessary to roll the free pipe away from the others, and not having to pull the surrounding pipes in any direction.

By partnering with Victaulic AngloGold was able to employ system solutions to meet their unique project needs, optimizing system uptime and maximizing productivity.
