Pilbara Minerals’ Pilgangoora Lithium-Tantalum Project, located near Port Hedland in Western Australia’s resource-rich Pilbara region, is one of the largest new lithium ore deposits in the world.

With an aggressive deadline to begin operations, Victaulic products were chosen to provide the fastest pipe joining method across a range of services and pipe materials from 1/2” to 32” (15mm – 800mm). For the small bore stainless steel chemical and compressed air lines, Victaulic Vic-Press™ provided a fast and simple joining solution that enabled the site to use off-the-shelf Schedule 10 stainless. Likewise, on the standard weight carbon steel systems, Victaulic system solutions provided safe and efficient installation. With Installation-Ready™ couplings, the process water and compressed air lines were joined up to 10 times faster than alternative methods. Victaulic was able to provide solutions for the full range of sizes up to 32” (800mm), including rubber-lined carbon steel pipe.

Ultimately, a post-construction analysis calculated a two to three-month savings on construction time and a savings of roughly $1 million in labor costs.

Partnering with Victaulic enabled Pilbara Minerals to mitigate risk, maximize productivity, and enhance onsite safety.
